Michel Pierre Cassier, B.A., M.B.A., J.D., has 30 years of experience handling state and local tax matters.  

Michel built a strong reputation as an attorney representing clients in complex state and local tax litigation, audit defense and assisting clients in managing and minimizing their tax burden through sophisticated multi-state planning/structuring.


Michel is well-versed in financial reporting and compliance-oriented facets of tax practice and, in recent years has taken his expertise “in house” as a fractional State Tax Director to various companies.  This experience gives Michel a unique insight when implementing complex legal issues within the confines of real-world business requirements and realities.

Michel was Chairman of the Virginia Bar Association’s Taxation Committee; sat by invitation on the Virginia Tax Commissioner’s Advisory Group; and also sat on the Taxation Committee of the Virginia Chamber of Commerce.  Michel’s knowledge of the end-game of litigation coupled with his skill in the technical aspects of tax brings a creative and often unique insight into tax compliance and planning.
